Happy 2020 all,
Your board has been very busy behind the scenes this off season. We have had pretty much non-stop phone calls with Board members, and Engineers for the past 3 weeks, not to mention many emails between everyone. In the the next week or so NYS should start dredging in our channel. They have contacted with the Engineering firm O'brien & Gere. The process will be to dredge the section of our channel that we never have that I can remember! We have let the NYSDEC share our permit. This will show good faith and a partnership with all groups involved. The purpose of this offseason dredging is to clear any material out of our channel and place on the west side. That material will help with some of the restabilization of the East Barrier Bar. The material will be moved in the spring with our regular clean out that we contract with Decker Excavating. I have attached a few PDF's of documents and drawings so you can look over.
The work that will be preformed now and the material that is left behind will all be done and paid for through the REDI Commission. Again no cost will be incurred by the PBIA or its members. We have also made it know that we will not except any material left on the west side and all of that will be moved in the spring and paid under the REDI Commission.
As always we work towards securing the best for PB and the future of its sustainablility.
