PBIA Minutes

September 8, 2023

7:00 p.m.

Location: Lyons National Bank

 

Attendees: Lori Furguson, Jeff Auser, Mike Faillace, Chip Compertore, Paul Way, Korey Post, Jon Post, Susie Mattle, Terry Palis

 

Absent: Chris Forster, Becky Hilbert, Alina Palis

 

Opening Remarks: Another great weekend for the PBIA-the Fishing Derby was a great event and fun was had by all!

 

Guests – Social Society Group: Laurie Alverio, Julie Aldrich, Mark Agor

  • “Social Society of Port Bay” is an informal group of volunteers

  • “Can we work together”

  • Mark discussed a $150.00 joining fee to people to support this group. They felt they have people willing to donate money possible up towards $20,000.00.

  • Some activities discussed: food truck, art festival, or painting party, movies outside, music

  • Some concerns from PBIA Board

    • Confusion for homeowners with two organizations and some may stop donating to PBIA. Mark stated they would only take money if people had already paid the PBIA membership dues.

  • Brochure provided with purpose and scope

  • Social Society members offered help planning and assisting with PBIA events – “Communication Important”

 

Approval of August 11, 2023 Minutes

  • Motion for Approval made by Jeff Auser

  • Seconded by Jon Post

  • Minutes approved

 

Fishing Derby: Terry Palis

  • 76 Children registered and 51 Adults registered

  • Total Fishing Derby information submitted and reviewed

  • Proposal for purchase of a new scale

  • Suggestion: purchase certain prizes this Fall when on sale. Example – paddle/blow up boats. All agreed. Terry will shop around

  • Overall, another very successful Fishing Derby

 

Treasury Report: Alina emailed the report to all

  • Motion to approve report made by Jeff Auser

  • Seconded by Paul Way

  • Treasury report approved

 

Membership Suggestions:

  • Welcome package for new property owners

  • Reach out to Real Estate agents for new property owners

 

IJC Meeting Update – Jeff Auser

  • Prediction 2024/2025/2026: water changes – High??

  • Dates keep getting pushed back on 2014 Project

  • Who is accountable

 

Wayne County Water & Soil

  • Funding questions/process?

  • Paul Way will meet with Lindsey.

  • Also concerns – Beaver Creek funding

  • Weed harvester never came back?

 

Channel Update: Jon Post

  • The channel is currently 6 feet deep

 

Channel Lights: No updates

 

Update on Whistlewood Trail:

  • No updates

 

Merchandise: Korey

  • Delay in shipping. Order due to arrive next week.

  • Pop-up sale when shipment comes in. Location will be either Sammy’s or Myrtle’s

  • After this pop-up sale, we will announce the website for ordering merchandise.

  • Fireworks budget increase

  • Location of fireworks

    • Barge versus Land
