PBIA Board Minutes

July 14, 2023, 7:00 p.m.

Location: Lyons National Bank

 

Attendees: Lori Furguson, Becky Hilbert, Jeff Auser, Susie Mattle, Alina Palis, Terry Palis, Chip Compertore, Paul Way

Absent: Chris Forster, Mike Faillace, Korey Post, Jon Post

 

Opening Remarks: Lori Furguson

Approval of June 9, 2023 Minutes and June 10, 2023 Annual Minutes

  • Motion for Approval made by Jeff Auser

  • Seconded by Terry Palis

  • Minutes approved

 

Annual Dinner: June 10, 2023

  • A HUGE THANK YOU TO:

    • Anne Schulte & Francine Miller for organizing and setting up the annual meeting. It was a great success!

    • Jean Gumina and Jackie Rose for managing the meet and greet at the entrance to the annual meeting!

  • Another Successful Annual Meeting

  • 124 Dinners order but only 98 showed

  • Anne Schulte and Francine Miller have volunteered for next annual meeting on June 8, 2024

  • Fran also volunteered to help with communications

 

Roof Top Concert: August 5th 6:00 – 8:30 p.m.

  • Chris’ band will be playing

  • Donations will go to “Ridges Rescue” – charity for dogs

  • Cost will be $1,100.00

  • Attend by land or water

 

Boats & Floats: August 19

  • PBIA will support this event with an email blast

  • Steve Drechsler will cover the cost for the band

  • Hal has offered his land if needed

 

Fishing Derby: September 3, 2023 start time is 7 a.m.

  • We have received many donations:

    • $300 check from Hal Smith

    • $100 gift card from Wegmans

    • Dick’s Sporting Goods gift card

    • $20 gift cards and coupons

  • PBIA will donate merchandise

 

Treasury Report: Alina

  • PBIA is in a good financial position

  • Invoices paid:

    • $238 for printing of annual dinner brochure

    • $195 paid for Constant Contact

    • $769 paid for Insurance

    • $1,800 paid to LaValley for fireworks barge

  • Invoice of $472.37 for Boat Parade payable to Jean Gumina

  • Invoice of $74.41 for Boat Parade candy payable to Lori Furguson

  • Invoice of $19.00 for annual dinner name tags payable to Lori Furguson

  • All invoices were Approved

 

Membership: Sue Mattle

  • Membership is slowing down

 

Channel Lights: No reports

 

Channel:

  • It was reported that a boat hit their prop going out of channel on the right side.

  • Communication reminder was sent out to stay closer to wall

 

Weed Harvesting: Received positive/good feedback on PBIA Facebook

 

Fireworks – July 3, 2023

  • Invoice $11,000 to Young

  • Invoice $7,113.75 to Orion for flares

  • Multiple income from area business for the sale of flares

  • Several boxes of flares left over

  • Investigate using LED flares for next year

 

Boat Parade: July 4, 2023

  • Approximately 20-21 boats participated

  • Very successful. Huge shoreline cheerleaders

  • Next year: Announce prior to parade the direction boats will travel

  • Fran and Ann would like to suggest a theme for next year’s parade

 

Update on Whistlewood Trail:

  • Terry spoke with Frank Merlock (DEC) reported the plan is to put in the parking lot in the Fall this year.

  • DEC is very positive on cleaning up this trail and they are going ahead with the upgrade.

 

Merchandise:

  • Pop-up sales will be held at the “Roof Top Concert” on 8/5/23

 

Additional Agenda Item:

  • Julie Aldridge was nominated to Town Council

  • PBIA Facebook: how/who should handle answering/following-up to members’ questions/concerns??

  • Terry suggested we need a “reporter” for communicating to members, such as

    • Water level

    • Overview of annual meeting

    • Events
