PBIA Minutes

April 8, 2022

7:00 p.m.

Location:  Zoom

 

Attendees:  Lori Furguson, Jeff Auser, Becky Hilbert, Terry Palis, Alina Palis, Chip Compertore, Mike Faillace, Tiffany Smith

 

Opening Remarks:  Myrtle

  • Jackie Rose has been helping with membership management.  She will continue to help but has not made a commitment to join the Board.

Approval of October 8, 2021 Minutes

  • Motion for Approval made by Jeff Auser
  • Seconded by Terry Palis
  • Minutes approved

Board Member Resignations:

  • Motion to approve the resignation of Dave Pulver as Treasurer and Jen Pulver as Membership manager made by Jeff Auser.
  • Seconded by Chip Compertone
  • Approved

Appointment of New Board Members:

  • Motion made to nominate Alina Palis as Treasurer made by Becky Hilbert
  • Seconded by Lori Furguson
  • Approved
  • Motion made to nominate Susie Mattle by Becky Hilbert
  • Seconded by Terry Palis
  • Approved

Memberships Dues:  

  • TOP OF AGENDA for 2022 meeting.  We need to discuss membership price for 2022 due to expenses going up.  We need to reach out to residents that have NOT renewed their memberships and should we reach out to non-residents.

Merchandise:

  •  Korey is researching 2 new vendors for merchandise
  • Motion made to approve $3,000 budget for merchandise by Jeff Auser
  • Seconded by Becky Hilbert
  • Approved

REDI (Resiliency Economic Development Initiative):  Lori Furguson

  • Lindsay working diligently on REDI Project.  Lori met with Lindsay and Pam Helming
  • Information on the REDI Project is posted on the Wayne County Water & Soil website
  • REDI Project includes East & West Barrier and the Channel.
  • Lindsay will attend the next PBIA meeting to talk about the REDI Project and weed harvesting program.
  • Jeff communicated that the DEC is on board with improving and widening Channel.


Whistlewood Trail:

  • Karen Lynch has brought concerns to the PBIA Board regarding the re-opening of the Whistlewood Trail.  Karen Lynch is located on West Port Bay Road (next to Terry & Alina’s former cottage) and she has a garage across from her house on West Port Bay Road.
  • Karen communicated that some neighbors are afraid of losing use of State public land on West Port Bay Road.  These residents would lose this privilege regardless of whether the trail is reopened..
  • Frank Morlock (DEC) was very positive about cleaning up the trail and reopening it.
  • Terry Palis talked to Frank Morlock and Frank has requested a formal resolution from PBIA with a vote.
  • Mike Faillace suggested that we invite Karen and Frank to a PBIA meeting, but not at the same meeting.
  • Suggestion made to invite Karen to the May 13th meeting and invite Frank to the June 10th meeting.
  • Prior to these meetings, PBIA will review the information that is posted on the PBIA website about the Whislewood Trail.

Channel:

 

  • Channel has been dredged and is open.
  • Decker used a new/bigger excavator
  • Channel was reviewed by PBIA Board and all looks good
  • Mike Faillace communicated that the Channel looks wider.
  • Pile of gravel/dirt on land:
  • Did we use some of it in the past
  • Permit was given to do a dredge/wedge

 

Fireworks:

 

  • Chip communicated that the Certificate of Liability has been obtained
  • Chip asked for help with distributing the Flares.  He needs someone to accept delivery and then deliver to Gallo’s, Bob’s, and Toad’s.  Fairhaven will pick up their order.
  • Jeff Auser and Tiffany Smith volunteered to help.

  • Motion to adjourn was made by Mike Faillace.

  • Meeting adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
