PBIA Minutes

April 14, 2023

7:00 p.m.

Location: Lyons National Bank

 

Attendees: Lori Furguson, Becky Hilbert, Susan Mattle, Chip Compertore, Mike Faillace, Alina Palis, Terry Palis

 

Absent: Chris Forster, Tiffany & Josh Smith, Jeff Auser

 

Remarks Opening: Lori Furguson

  • Tiffany & Josh Smith have submitted their resignation from PBIA

  • Doug Kinney – interested in joining PBIA Board

 

Approval of October 14, 2022 Minutes

  • Motion for Approval made by Terry Palis

  • Seconded by Chip Compertore

  • Minutes approved

 

NOAA

  • Lori Furguson spoke with Ellen (Michigan)

  • Ellen stated that they are staying on top of this initiative

  • There are no issues identified

 

Annual Dinner: June 10, 2023

  • Lori will reach out to Anne Schulte and Francine Miller in regards to their offer to manage the set-up of the Annual PBIA Dinner

 

Golf Event: June 3, 2023

 

 

Treasury Report: Alina

  • In good standing

  • CD’s are good

  • Will process payment to Jeff Decker

  • $184 cost for printing envelopes

  • Motion to approve Treasury Report made by Lori Furguson

  • Seconded by Chip Compertore

  • Treasury Report approved

 

REDI (Resiliency Economic Development Initiative): Lori Furguson

  • At 90%

  • Lindsay offered to host a Zoom meeting at the end of May

  • Culvert in good shape.

    • Road design is in place

    • Construction expected to start this Fall

    • Permit will be submitted approximately April 30, 2023

  • Weeds

    • Concerns with shoal development

    • Looking for fulltime and parttime drivers

 

Channel:

  • 2 Years Remaining on the current contract with Jeff Decker

  • First dredging for 2023 has been completed. 3 more scheduled dredging

  • Water level is high right now

  • Future Action Item: Invite Decker to a meeting to discuss future dredging.

    • Suggestion made to dredge 4 times/year: April/June/July/September

    • Maybe meet with Jeff Decker in February 2023

    • Board needs to look at all options and develop a plan to improve Channel Dredging.

  • A payment of $10,000 was approved and mailed to Jeff Decker on 4/15/2023

 

 

Fireworks – July 3, 2023

  • Chip will approach the Golf Course

 

Boat Parade: July 4, 2023

  • Theme: Halloween

 

Update on Whistlewood Trail:

  • No updates

 

Merchandise:

  • New Supplier engaged

  • T-shirts ordered (40 womens and 40 mens)

  • Korey suggested blankets – Board rejected this

  • Korey requested $3,500: please provide a list to the Board detailing the $3,500

 

Website: Terry Palis

  • Terry reported that the website is operating great

  • FUTURE AGENDA: Who should manage answering questions received via website?

  • Suggested made regarding businesses advertising on PBIA website or Facebook.

  • As of each January 1st each year members are removed from member list until they renew

 

Membership Report: Susan Mattle

  • 350 Renewal letters mailed. 30 returned for bad address

  • Updated 600 addresses

  • 252 paid members to date

 

Additional Agenda Item:

  • PA system to be used for boat parade and golfing events

  • Terry suggested buying 2 speakers – at a cost of $129 each

  • Approved

 

Julie Aldrich has been appointed to the Town Board
