Approval of April Minutes:

  • Motion for Approval made by Jeff

  • Seconded by Dave

  • Minutes approved

 

Membership: Jen Pulver

  • A lot of new members

  • Excellent generous donations for fireworks

  • Leave hardcopy membership application as is for now, let members make the decision on donations for fireworks and dredging.

  •  

Retired Board Members:

  • PBIA board agreed to send a $50 gift card each to Doug Atwood and Carol Myers to thank them for their service on the Board.

  • Myrtle will contact Doug McAvoy to ask him if he still wants to remain on the PBIA Board.

 

Treasurer’s Report: Dave Pulver:

  • Liability Insurance bill due: Motion to pay made by Jeff, Seconded by Tiffany. Approval received to pay the insurance bill.

  • Motion made to approve treasurer’s report made by Chris and seconded by Jon

 

Website: Terry Palis

  • Updates coming soon to website. Plans are to make website changes to make navigation easier.

  • Request made to fund $1,000 to $1,200 for upgrades

Motion made to approve funding by Jeff. Seconded by Tiffany

Terry will follow-up with Corporate Communications to begin the upgrades to website

  • Improvements will be made to website to bring data together from members input and manual input from mail-in forms

  • 30 people have signed up for annual meeting via website

  • 50/50 raffle – total of $940 ($340 on website and $600 by mail)

  • Looking at a way to eliminate duplicate accounts and enable members to update their address

  • Constant Contact: a lot of response activity

 

Channel, Barrier Bar: Greg Gumina

  • Greg will check the channel on 5/15/21

  • In between dredging – 2 additional dredging’s will be done

  • Greg will talk to Decker and set predetermined dates the 2 additional dredging’s

  • In addition: Greg has spoken with Lakeside (Bill Stevens) to handle urgent dredging if Decker is not available. Price was quoted at $150/hour

  • Greg suggested adding another board member to be available in Greg’s absence to handle dredging inspection. Greg suggested either Josh or Mike.

  • Eventually we will need more information about the channel to members via Constant Contact.

 

Pier: Jeff Auser

  • Pier is past it’s life. DEC recognizes this problem.

    • Pier is contributing to the problem of sediment going from West to East

    • DEC’s goal is to move sediment to East AND to fix the Pier

    • DEC wants to change the direction of the Pier

    • DEC has not done sediment modeling yet

    • Lindsey – fix the road to launch

  • Warning Signs – Greg advocates posting signs at the channel. “Shallow Water – Proceed at your own risk”

  • Jeff suggested the need to continue to have open communications to keep the PBIA Board up to date to enable all to answers members’ questions.

 

Merchandise: Jon Post

  • Merchandise has been orders:

      • Wine glasses & Beer Mugs

      • T-Shirts & Sweatshirts

      • Canvas boat bags

 

Annual Meeting/Dinner Plans: All

  • Saturday, June 5th

  • Inside and outside accommodations

  • 2:00 p.m. start time

  • 3:00 p.m. – start meeting

  • 4:00 p.m. – dinner will be served

  • Cost is $20/person

  • Raffle gift baskets will not be done this year due to Covid.

  • Name tags with PB addresses will be provided at the meeting.

 

REDI Projects: Myrtle: The projects funded with dollars are in the planning process and the Board will continue to be involved and provide updates.

 

Events:

  • Golf Tournament –Chris Forster

    • Need additional funding. Increase budget to $750. Motion made by Jeff to increase funding. Seconded by Dave. All in favor.

    • Tickets are $50/person

    • Scheduled for 8:00 a.m. on June 5th

    • Need two volunteers to help: Myrtle volunteered. Need one more.

    • Instead of bringing alcohol – sell tickets for Beer

    • Will play two games: Giant Circle and Corn Hole. Prizes will be golf balls

  • Rooftop Concert on August 7th– Chris Forster

    • Request was made to $300 to purchase a sound system from House of Guitars. Motion made by Dave to approve $300, seconded by Terry. Approved by all.

    • Concert will start at 4:00 p.m.

    • Projection Screen will be used

    • Charity – Jeff suggested a humanitarian charity such as food cupboards

    • Ask audience for donations. Have someone go from boat to boat (maybe by jet ski)

  • Bike Ride Poker / run day after concert – Chris Forster

    • Discussion moved to the June 4th meeting

  • Fishing Derby – Terry Palis

    • Fishing Derby will be held on Sunday, September 5th. Terry will start the promotion of the derby at the beginning of August

  • 50/50 Raffle: Jen will handle putting names on raffle tickets and also provide blank tickets at the annual meeting on June 5th. Deadline for on-line purchase of 50/50 tickets and Dinner reservations will be June 1st.

  • Boat Parade – Myrtle

    • Boat parade will again be held over the July 4th holiday. Theme will be “Ugly Disco 70’s”

  • Fireworks/Barge/Flares - Chip

    • How many cases should be order – 100 cases?? Fairhaven usually takes 45 cases

  • Strawberry Festival - Becky

    • Checked with the Town Hall to see if they knew anything about the festival. They do not.

    • A voice message was left for Marylou Brockwood at the Presbyterian Church asking if the festival was going to happen or not. No answer yet.

Future Events

  • Terry suggested an event at The Bayfront. Mike supports this. More to discuss in near future.

  • Terry suggested contacting the State to open up the “walking trail” located off of West Port Bay Road. Everyone agreed this is an excellent idea. More on this topic in the future.

 

Next Meeting: June 4th, 2021 and will be held at The Bayfront at 7pm
