Fellow PBIA Members,
Senator Helming asked me to provide a quick update on a meeting she had regarding the Lake Ontario flood situation. She recently met with Governor Cuomo and members of his cabinet to discuss the ongoing flood situation and advocate on behalf of the shoreline communities she represents.
At this meeting, she reiterated the need for the State of New York to bring all forces to bear to push the IJC for repeal of Plan 2014. She also voiced her support for a possible state lawsuit against the IJC and federal government. The need for resiliency planning and state assistance for homeowners, local governments, and businesses was also shared. Senator Helming believes that it is imperative that the State of New York partner with local communities to plan for the future.
As always, she will continue to keep you updated as discussions move forward. Please do not hesitate to reach out whenever Senator Helming can be of assistance to you or the communities you represent.
Respectfully,
Chris Catt
